Artist Statement
Utilizing the medium of textiles, surface design, and printmaking, Patty Kennedy-Zafred creates thought-provoking narratives to develop a visual dialogue with the viewer. Her work marries a fascination with photography, history, and stitch, reflecting both historical and personal memories.
Kennedy-Zafred’s award-winning work has been exhibited in international exhibitions, including Quilt National, Visions, Fiberart International, Artist as Quiltmaker, CraftForms, Fantastic Fibers, Quilts=Art=Quilts, Art Quilt Elements, New Legacies, and numerous juried and invitational exhibitions. She has won top prizes at the International Quilt Festival, including the prestigious Masters Award. Her work is part of the collections of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, The Textile Museum, The Clinton Library & Museum, the San Jose Museum of Textiles, Heinz History Center/Smithsonian, and Emory University, as well as multiple private collections.
