Maggie Vanderweit

I am inspired to create by the interconnected social, personal, spiritual, and natural universes and the beauty and wonder of our lives. My work is exhibited internationally, has received many awards, and is in public and private collections around the world. My book "Stone Threads" was published in 2016. I create original contemporary art with hand-painted, hand-dyed, rust and botanically dyed fabrics, hand embroidery, collage, and intricately machine quilted surfaces. Now retired from teaching, I volunteer for SAQA's board and various committees. In 2019 my quilt "Indigo Party" was used by IQA as their logo for the Sapphire Show at Houston Market. "Calling All Angels" is part of Quilt National 2021.
