Artist Statement
I am a quilt artist living in Louisville, Kentucky. Since 2015, I have been learning to dye fabrics, understand the elements of design, and create quilts. I create dynamic quilts that are also very textural.
The generations of quilt makers who created "unconventional and unexpected" quilts amaze and inspire me. (See Unconventional and Unexpected: American Quilts Below the Radar, 1950-2000 by Roderick Kiracofe) My current series, Anxieties, is a modified string quilt design. Although piecework is one of my abiding interests, I am excited to begin studying and creating quilts made of large, simple shapes.
My quilts have been displayed at the Owensboro Art Museum and Berea Artisan Center in Kentucky, as well as in Form Not Function at the Carnegie Center in New Albany, Indiana, and Quilts=Art=Quilts at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, New York.
