Artist Statement
My art is fueled by creative curiosity and plenty of purposeful play! They drive me to explore the world around me for design inspiration, experiment with my favorite materials and techniques, and ultimately create joy-filled fiber art. Each studio session is an opportunity to create from the heart. Starting with a square of white fiber, my blank canvas is informed and transformed by daily playdates to yield layers of vibrant color, printed pattern play, and incredible stitched textures. I am always left awestruck by each evolution.
My current series of block printed & stitched fiber art began with daily play to yield 300+ block prints. I enjoy the challenge of nestling these motifs into the whimsical grids, and mandala designs that dance across a yoga mat or in the wind. The same blocks take on new life as they print into spirited nymphs. These hand-carved creations celebrated my transition from 20/20 vision to needing trifocal glasses.
And they continue to inspire my creative play…
