Artist Statement
My background is in journalism, and I have always been interested in writing and languages. My quilts are text-based, sometimes inspired by bold advertisements and graffiti in the urban landscape, but recently more by intimate handwritten communication in letters and journals.
My chosen media is collage, and my work is characterized by layering and texture. I apply a variety of surface designs and make extensive use of hand stitching.
I am currently a board member of SAQA and serve as co-coordinator for the Juried Artist Members. I have exhibited and taught widely in Europe, the USA, and Australia, and I have been a member of the European group Quilt Art since 2000.
