Artist Statement
I am a Canadian mixed-media fiber and textile artist. Using my graphic design background, I use both machine and hand stitching to expand on the sewing traditions of the women in my family before me.
My recent body of work, the "Coffee Culture" series, and my installation "Consumed!", started with the creation of Café Curtains for the 2023 Design TO Festival. I choose to recycle materials from coffee and tea preparation, as these items capture the fleeting imprints of daily rituals, moments in time, and the comfort of home. Each used coffee filter, tea bag, coffee package, or burlap sack holds its own story, but when stitched together, they weave a larger narrative about waste, beauty, value, and reuse.
I have exhibited with the DesignTO Festival, the World of Threads Festival, SAQA's Fierce Planets, and two SAQA virtual galleries. In 2024, Meadowland won a Judges Award in the Canadian-based Grand National Fibre Exhibition.
