Artist Statement
I started as a quilter in 1988 and soon morphed into a fiber artist. The art side of fiber art clicked for me when I started experimenting with shifting values across the quilt canvas in two opposing directions.
My fascination with value resulted in using value changes to create subtlety, sharp edges, shadow, dappled light and luminosity. Value is the first consideration when I start a new artwork. Through careful selection of fabric and thread I am able to bring emphasis to areas of an artwork while allowing other areas to recede.
