Artist Statement
I am lucky enough to be living my dream; working to create textile art as well as teaching in my own studio environment. I work in mixed media, combining paper & paint with cloth and stitch.
In 2015, I graduated with distinction with my Master's Degree in Art & Design from Brighton University. I create art that examines aspects of the human condition, particularly absence, and how that relates to identity when challenged by dementia. As a female artist, I am constantly engaged with those elements which affect the lives of women and have noted their absence from the history books and art history in particular.
I am happy working on my own as most artists do, but I also very much enjoy the dialogue with other artists that I get from being a member of a group of outstanding textile artists: unFOLD.
