Karol Kusmaul (visit website) is a retired art teacher, longtime quilter (both traditional and art), SAQA Juried Artist Member, founder of Cloth in Common, recently earned an MA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design.
Especially enjoys working with patterned fabrics from a vast collection of thrifted clothing. Equally comfortable working in portraiture, landscape, still life and abstraction. Happy to stitch on a domestic or longarm machine or by hand.
During the time of selection, I found myself in need of an emotional, spiritual lift. Work that can bring a smile, or a sense of calm, or lift one’s heart. I also thought about searching out art made by artists who I may not know yet, and who might need upliftment or recognition.
It is my hope that viewers will get a sense of delight, peace, joy, or comfort when perusing the work in this collection.
