Rewarding describes my experience curating this exhibit. It was an honor and a responsibility to compile a group of art quilts that tell a story of walking through any city. As I looked through hundreds of images, I responded to the similarities and differences in the work. Each piece I viewed demonstrated a significant investment of time, energy, and expertise, and all of the JAM artists deserve merit and praise. I began with a preconceived theme, although it changed as I began to select artwork.
I expect my appreciation for dimensional, freeform, and abstract pieces impacted my selections. It was important to me to have a wide range of artists and styles represented, and some of my favorite pieces werent selected as the final 24. Thank you, SAQA, for providing this valuable and enlightening experience.
