Artist Statement
Nature and human nature play a large part in the content of my artwork. Tapping into universals, conscious or unconscious, myth and psychology to express a symbolic narrative of the effects these have on my inner being.
Figures/portraits and landscapes are my main visuals. Nature’s elements often appear in my work for their symbolic meanings as in my “Six Roses” series. Many have mountains, waning crescent moons, and water, and all have six roses, depicting a period of sadness and loss. A feeling many have lived through in their lives.
Ultimately, my work is about capturing a feeling or a mood through figurative means, reflecting it through fabric, paint, and thread for others to see and hopefully connect with.
