Artist Statement
I speak fabric. Why fabric? That’s the question I ask myself on a regular basis. The best answer I can come up with is I speak fabric. For me it’s similar to being asked why I speak English. Could it be because I’ve grown up with it? Or studied it? Or am around it every day? It’s simply an integral part of me.
Professionally, I am part of the creative duo Pixeladies. We create art quilts. Individually, I create fabric and destroy fabric. I destroy fabric to create new fabric. I sew, weave, knit, crochet, quilt, applique, piece, and print fabric.
Currently I’m focusing on creating abstract digital paintings, printing them on fabric and hand stitching them. I like to say I go from digital to digit-al.
