"Yayoi" is a portrait of the artist Yayoi Kusama and was created for the exhibition "A Better World", curated by Susan Brubaker Knapp and Lyric Kinard. For this collection we were asked to pick a hero and make a quilt to honor that person. Yayoi Kusama is presently one of the leading artists in the world who expresses herself in many mediums. She has overcome much adversity in her life and continues to make art even into her 9th decade.

Commercial and hand-dyed cotton fabric, cotton batting, fabric paint and markers

My technique "Material Matrix", which involves piecing of 2-inch squares, hand-applique, painting, free-motion quilting.
