Through the Canopy 4

My work explores ways in which juxtapositions of value and color interact to determine what can be seen. My current Through the Canopy series evokes light from the sky filtered through a broken canopy of leaves. Large oak leaves created from appliquéd blocks of painted, stitched, and collaged rice paper hover over a background stamped with smaller leaves. The implied sashing disappears and reappears across the surface of the quilt.
