Part of a series inspired by the painter Marc Chagall, this quilt is made entirely from an embroidered tablecloth that belonged to my grandmother. I wanted to show the link and the duality between past and present in family history, and the difficulties of making certain decisions.
Chagall was torn between tradition and modernity, between his native Russia and France where he eventually emigrated.
This is my way of bringing to life and pay tribut the fabrics that lie dormant in our wardrobes.
