My mother, who once was an amazing seamstress, has lost her skills to vascular dementia. However, something lingers from her days of maneuvering fabric. She obsessively cuts at household fabrics—mostly washcloths and her own pants. I made this quilt in an effort to find meaning in her “new work.”
Materials
Washcloths, towels, handkerchiefs, crocheted oven mitts, pants, blankets, flash cards
Techniques
Machine and hand quilted, assembled, appliquéd
