Metamorphosis

This dual-sided piece explores the intriguing notion of metamorphosing the digital elements of one of my art quilts to create another; a kind of digital recycling. With image editing software, I manipulated a photograph of one of my earlier three-dimensional quilts, thus creating new visual layers to print onto fabric. Traditional hand-folding origami techniques allowed further transformations to emerge, producing three-dimensional forms with folds and stitch. My goal is to explore the creation of volumes, stitched in interesting new configurations, so that the DNA of the original piece is still present, but in a permanently altered visual state.
