Unfortunately, there are still a lot of misunderstandings and taboos surrounding mental illness. I came across this anonymous text on the Internet. It appealed to me because I am dealing with family members who have bipolar disorder. It expresses very well how unpredictable and changeable life can be for these patients and their loved ones, often despite medication. The fabric strips are torn and woven, reflecting the up-and-down movement of the disease. A wavy dividing line runs over the quilt between light and dark, manic and depressed.
