Week 4 included materials made from various plant sources such as linen, flax, and ramie. Since it might be difficult to find these materials, why not try incorporating paper into your artwork? Paper is easy to find and comes in many different colors and types. Paper collage allows you to design and change images easily and can be incorporated into fiber work.
Check your studio, home, and recycling bins for newspapers, magazines, old book pages, calendars, and more. You can paint, stamp, or mono-print on papers for additional color. Perhaps add some scribbled notes for your thoughts. Use your sewing machine to stitch the layers or any type of adhesive (glue sticks, gel mediums, fusible web).
Make a paper or newspaper collage using water and paint to change the texture of the papers. Then add them to fabric to see how they cooperate. The creative possibilities are endless!
