Mother and Child in Utero stems from art drawings in charcoal carried out over 20 years ago. The simplicity of form and the use of two tones is an escape from the use of color in my work, but leaves the viewer to create their own interpretation.
The main figure is emphasized by the use of shadow quilting and is offset by geometric rigid lines to enhance the central figure. It is part of a series of work where feelings transcribe to fiber and thoughts to threads—an unspoken form of communication. Really drawing with a needle and thread!
