Textile Talks: Textiles in 3D with Salley Mavor, Barbara Schneider, and Jean Sredl

Conversations with the Artists

Join us for an engaging discussion with three artists creating with fiber in 3D!

Salley Mavor will discuss her journey as an artist who tells stories with sculptural needlework. The presentation will cover various creative endeavors, including picture book illustration, doll-making, and stop-motion animation. She will touch on her search for more meaning in her work.

Barbara Schneider's "Leaves and Forest Floor" series enlarges and reshapes images of nature. She is influenced by her volunteer work with the conservation district. Barbara is a conservation site steward and is replanting an oak tree corridor that existed before 1837. She'll tell us about what she sees there and picks up to translate into artwork.

Jean Sredl is a fiber artist using upcycled materials. Often, her artwork sends an evocative environmental message. Nature and abstraction heavily influence her artwork. She also focuses on the inner mind and science. She will talk about her unusual artwork process and how it developed. Jean will illustrate her methods, focusing on two artworks.
