Becky Glasby, Director of Education at the National Quilt Museum (NQM) in Paducah, KY talks with Louisville-based quilt artist Audrey Esarey. Audrey's exhibition, "Contemporary Curves," was at the National Quilt Museum in 2022. This exhibit is a collection of quilts exploring circular shapes, curved seams, high-contrast colors, and dense straight-line quilting. Works featured in this talk and exhibit are primarily from Audrey's ongoing series: Radial Quilts, Watercolor Quilts, and Aura Quilts.
Audrey always considered herself a maker, but it wasn't until she found quilting in 2005 that she identified her creative niche. After starting to create quilts in a modern design aesthetic starting in 2018, Audrey's work has been honored with awards in national and international shows, including: Quilt National '21, Houston International Quilt Festival, American Quilter's Society - Quilt Week Paducah, and the Modern Quilt Guild's QuiltCon. Her work is part of the permanent collection of the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE.
