Chicago Modern Quilt Guild is proud to present an art exhibition showcasing the work of their talented and creative members. These unique art pieces/quilts are sure to leave a lasting impression on viewers with their diverse artistic styles.
The “Take the Shirt Off My Back” challenge consisted of using shirts from their closets, from loved ones and friends, to create a unique piece of art that is true to the maker’s aesthetic. Being conscious of the widespread waste in the textile industry, repurposing and sustainability are at the helm of this challenge.
Each quilt tells a different story by bringing inspiration and honoring the stories of those who wore the shirts and made the quilts. It is a collaborative conversation on the importance of welcoming sustainability in all parts of our lives.
