The Mourning Project: Infant Loss Made Visible

Non-SAQA
Exhibition
Region

This huge community art project includes 20,000 handmade pairs of booties - an elegy for each American child lost before their first birthday each year. See the collection, learn how each infant mortality affects our community and what we can do to improve the lives of babies and their loss families.

The installation is 38 square feet made from the arrangement of the hand sewn, knit, crocheted, embroidered, appliquéd and felted booties. There will also be an altar and the March of Dimes Mom and Baby Mobile Health Center. Plus lots of vital information about the issue of infant mortality. The booties were made by loss parents and other family members, and lots and lots of other supportive individuals.
