SAQA members (primary and secondary) of the Arizona, New Mexico, Southern Nevada, and Southern California regions are eligible.

Artists will have the opportunity to broaden their scope to explore the heart of the matter in a variety of ways. An art quilt is defined by SAQA as “a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure”. This includes 2D, 3D and sculptural works
There are many ways to portray the ‘Matter at Heart’. Arizona Regional artists are encouraged to explore core values, dilemmas, global issues, politics and matters of the heart in their work. The art should be fresh and bring a new perspective to the heart of the matter.
Here are a few topic ideas for inspiration.
- Core Values: Who are you at the core? What are your core values?
- Dilemmas: Immigration, Genetic engineering,
- Global issues: Plastics in the ocean, space station, global warming,
- Politics: Democracy, War in Ukraine, Our Country divided, A women’s right to choose
