Intro to Natural Dyes with Amanda Thatch

A few basic principles can unlock the ability to use dyes from natural sources. Together, we will go over how to select and pre-treat fibers, how to use different dye materials such as plant matter and extracts, and how to mix and maintain an indigo vat. With only a few dyes we will achieve a wide range of deep and complex colors, opening possibilities for using natural color with intention and expression. Students will leave with a complete set of color samples, as well as the experience and confidence to keep exploring natural dyes outside the classroom. All experience levels welcome.
