Join us for the upcoming webinar on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 1 pm EDT (GMT/UTC-4) titled “A Conversation About Judging, Jurying and Curating Art Quilts.”
Our speakers are:
Museum curator, Amy Green
Juror, Linda Colsh
Judge, Kathie Kerler
Learn the difference between judging and jurying. How does it differ among quilt shows, museums, and galleries? How does the artist statement impact selections? How do you decide whether to enter a juried and/or judged show? We'll also cover a variety of other topics.
With over thirty years of experience in nonprofit administration, Amy retired in 2024 after eleven years as the Executive Director at the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum in La Conner, WA. One of the largest programs hosted by the Museum is an International Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival, a juried and judged exhibition featuring artists from across the world. Now living in Massachusetts and working part-time at Williams College, she said that she misses the excitement of seeing what art pieces get accepted into the exhibition, followed by the awards given -some often very surprising!
Kathie Kerler
Kathie has been judging since 2002 and certified in 2008. To date, she has judged nearly 200 shows at regional and national venues. As a judge, her goal is to recognize and encourage entrants with positive comments and offer constructive comments on how to improve future work.
She is a Qualified Instructor for the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges, teaching the association’s seminar, both in-person and on-line. Her interactive seminar focuses on design and workmanship.
Kathie is a graduate of the Institute of London City & Guilds in England and studied at the Lesage School of Needlework in Paris, France. For seven years, she was a contributing editor to American Quilter magazine.
Linda Colsh
A lifelong artist whose work is in collections worldwide, Linda Colsh has exhibited and taught internationally. Among the many exhibitions she has juried or judged are Visions, Quilt National, Quilt Nihon, European Patchwork Meeting Concours and numerous other exhibitions in Europe, Asia and America. In addition, she curated exhibitions for the National Quilt Museum as well as venues in Europe and America.
