The Special Events Committee of Studio Art Quilt Associates Inc. (SAQA) is seeking presentation proposals for our next in-person conference  “Fabricating Excellence” in St. Petersburg, Florida (April 3-April 6, 2025).

What are we looking for?

We are looking for compelling proposals and nominations for speakers on topics of interest to our membership. These would ideally include but not limited to topics on professional, creative, and personal development as an artist.

If SAQA members would like to nominate a particular speaker of interest, please consider filling out the nomination form below as soon as possible so that the Special Events Committee have time to contact the potential speaker well before the final deadline.

Presentations may take the form of lectures with visuals (60 minutes, including a Q&A session) or panel discussions with a moderator (60 – 90 minutes, including a Q&A session). However, we are open to other formats that will engage our audience.

Please remember that the brief description of your presentation will be used to promote your lecture or panel discussion, so make it as interesting as possible to attract attendees. Your description will also be used by the Special Events Committee to select the program lineup. Use third person and present tense.

Compensation Details

We provide an honorarium. For lectures, please let us know what is expected and, if selected, we will try to work it into our budget. We are always grateful when a presenter chooses to donate some or all of the honorarium back to SAQA toward conference expenses.

With regards to travel expenses, SAQA offers main speakers one night of a hotel room or a shared hotel room for two nights at the conference hotel. Other travel expenses (airfare, mileage) will be reimbursed up to $500 USD.
