Animalia: The Animal Kingdom in Quilts and Textiles

Non-SAQA
Exhibition

Animalia, the scientific name for creatures that populate our planet and share the characteristics of breathing oxygen, eating organic matter, reproducing sexually, and having very similar cell structures at the molecular level. There are more than seven million types of animals in this kingdom. NEQM Curator Pamela Weeks has selected works that portray some of her favorites, both fearsome and playful, from celebrated quilt and textile artists across the country. The extraordinary array of techniques, materials, and artistic styles represented in this exhibition offers an inspirational, and sometimes whimsical, perspective on the animal kingdom.
