Weary Blues is centered around a depressed soul. A soul imprisoned in the mind of the human body. The beautiful portrait of the black man whose expression doesn't indicate to the world the severity and struggle of the pain that is part of his daily life. The black and white contrast is symbolizing another judgement made of people who look well but have an invisible illness. There is a grayness in this that is not seen. Depression is cancer of the soul.
