Tree Spirit: Northern Red Oak

One of many Tree of Life quilts I have made using many different species of trees, this one includes an enormously oversized leaf behind the tree, all pieced at once. There are geometric parallels in a single plant between the angles in the leaf veins and the angles of the branches of the tree. Piecing such a tree allow me to change the background fabrics on each side of each branch. The smallest branches are simply represented by a seam line between two different background fabrics.
