I always feel peaceful when looking at this quilt. It developed when I wanted to make the best use of the beautiful piece of fabric I had purchased from Fabrics to Dye For. To it I attached my free motion thread appliqu� cedar waxwings, played with making 3-d leaves and let the background speak to me as to how it should be quilted.
Materials
hand dyed fabric, sulky rayon and metallic threads, dressmakers interfacing and warm and natural quilt batt for the thread appliqu�s, yarn, leather, lame,cotton
Techniques
free motion appliques made totally from thread and attached 3-dimensionally. A dimensional trunk made by free motion stitching over a yarn base. Leaves stitched with wire to allow curling. Free motion lace leaves. Free motion machine quilted.
