As a former cell and molecular biologist, I bring a unique perspective to my art quilting. In many cases, my artwork appears magnified and somewhat distorted as if viewed through an imaginary lens. While I see cells and mysterious microscopic organisms, others observe celestial objects and other worldly phenomena.
Materials
Water soluble fabric paints; rolling pin guides, plexiglass discs and sequins at stencils; on demand cotton fabric panels; 80/20 cotton/poly batting.
Techniques
Whole cloth quilt from original sun paintings, digitally manipulated and printed on demand in three different color ways. One panel was cut into puzzle pieces and appliquéd onto each of the other two fabric panels. Machine quilted and hand stitched.
