Anticipating the birth of my first grandchild, I elected to make a "three-generation quilt." The baby (boy or girl?) was the inspiration, and I was the maker, of course. The unwitting "designer" was my daughter (the expectant mother), whose figurative drawings from childhood provided the motifs. There they were in my 25-year stash of papers: girls in colorful dresses with free-flowing hair, and lively boys with big ears, hands or shoes. Now was the time to make use of their childlike sense of fun!
