Stripe Construction 3 (Stem)

My improvised quilts are two-dimensional sculptures. They are constructions informed by action, not design. In Stripe Construction 3: Stem, my actions were connecting ones, as I worked with a series of striped panels to maintain lines that could continue rising across the piece. The resulting quilt celebrates moments of strain, when the desire to connect pushes us in awkward directions, and moments of grace, when connections happen easily and are seemingly discovered rather than created.
