Stone Garden Geisha

As an abstract artist, I wanted to show the contrast between the gorgeous colors and curves of the geisha’s kimono, and the raked grey stone Japanese gardens with their linear lines. I liked the contrast between the quilted cotton fabric and the hard surfaces of the stone garden. The kimono is all smooth edge pieced, whereas the garden has the contrast of rough edge appliqué.
