Spring

Spring features a very old, native California oak tree growing on the crest of a hill near my home. It has struggled throughout its lifetime, but another spring has come and the oak is about to burst into full leaf.
As late summer and fall come around, many of these beautiful old trees will go up in smoke. The number and ferocity of forest fires has increased dramatically during the last decade. Experts tell us that nearly all wildfires are caused by human activity. We need better forest management, power line maintenance, individual care with fires, and control of global warming. Saving lives and our forests is well worth our efforts
