In June, 2010 my mother died suddenly. I hoped that she would now once again meet my father who had died six years earlier. The "smile" represents her feeling at that moment. When I had left home to go back to New York or to depart for work, she always sent me off with a smile. This taught me the importance and value of a smile. This was my first quilt made after she died. I believe that if she had seen it she would have had a similar smile.
