The sea wall at Secheron Bay has seen many changes since it was built nearly two hundred years ago. The site has a multi-layered history that includes ship building, timber drying and storage, fruit preservation, canning, and the manufacture of jams and juices. In the 1990s, it was transformed into a public park, and the sea wall itself is now used for scientific study. The sea wall has successfully responded and adapted to all these different uses. It has many intriguing layers, with hidden traces of history that can only be guessed at.
