Rutile

The word “metamorphism” means “change in form.” To me, as a geologist, the word describes a class of rocks— metamorphic rocks. They are changed by extreme heat or extreme pressure into something entirely different. Rutile is a metamorphic mineral composed primarily of titanium dioxide.
