Rocket Valley

I grew up in the sixties, thrilled by the promise of space travel. It was an innocent time when President John F. Kennedy said, “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” I also learned to care about the environment because our president said, “I look forward to an America that will not be afraid of grace and beauty, which will protect the beauty of our natural environment.”

I believed in Kennedy’s vision for our future. Mid-century space art reminds me of that time when my childhood dreams soared aloft, nourished by the values of a true leader. I find in these trying times I need my space art more than ever.
