The color red represents both power and strength. In Red Queen, I express the heart of power and the fragility that accompanies the holding of it. I have always been interested in pattern and color and how these elements can evoke emotional and political responses. The importance of quilt making in the politics and history of women also inspires my practice. My work is entirely intuitive and visceral, and I do not know beforehand what is going to happen. I create through trial and error, literally dancing between the wall, the cutting mat, the sewing machine, and the iron.
