Rapunzel, Rapunzel

Awareness of the staggering amount of the textile waste we produce, and solutions for reuse are better learned from artwork than statistics. I am after the transformation of the no longer useful, the creativity that turns one thing into something so entirely different. I deconstruct, quilt, and stitch cast-off clothing to make sculptural hangings. This reconceptualization reclaims the dignity of the material, creating a contemporary artistic voice from the prosaic.
