Poppies

For the poppies, I pulled many different printed fabrics, mostly in the indigo range, and used them as seemed best. This is hard, much harder than the flower. At a seam line about 6 or 8 inches inside the outside edge, I changed fabrics making a kind of implied border, which helps to focus the viewer on the center of the quilt. The detail of the center ovary and stamens required some hand applique and the insertion of black cotton yarn.
