Open Water

This piece was inspired by an excursion walking in snowshoes over a frozen lake in the Boundary Waters area of northern Minnesota. Surrounded by frozen land and snow covered boulders the water flows in certain areas There is a beauty in the sight and sound of the open water. The earth is so quiet and only the sound of the water is heard.

I did more than ten pieces on this theme of snow and ice before I moved on to capturing the marks I saw on the sidewalk while doing my daily walk in my subdivision. Being able to walk in the world, home or away, provides me with many sources of inspiration.
