My Mother's Spirit

This quilt is a tribute to my mother, who was also an artist and taught me to sew. She had a love of butterflies, especially swallowtails. Though she is no longer alive, I have always felt her presence when butterflies fly near me. A painting she had done of her hands inspired me to pose mine similarly, releasing a swallowtail to join its companions in the sky.
