My view of NYC, the city that is mostly shades of grey, with spots of color. This view is somewhat abstract, but contains some realistic architectural elements and references to existing places.
Looking out the window of a tall Manhattan building, I see layers of geometric form. These squares and rectangles become my city of cloth.
The whole time I was assembling this quilt, I felt like I was back in my childhood playing with blocks. I became both architect and contractor. Patchwork and applique developed into neighborhoods, and as city planner, I designed my 'Metropolitan Postcard'.
