Hannah Senesh was an incredibly brave young Jewish woman who volunteered to parachute behind Nazi lines to try to save her people. Caught, tortured, and maimed by the Nazis, she continued to do her best to raise the spirits of her fellow captives. Her indomitable spirit sparks hope for all people who long to be free from oppression. She wrote poetry: "Blessed is the match consumed in the kindling flame." To honor this heroine and to help us remember, I included the match parachuting toward the Jews who were being forced onto trains headed for the death camps, and the proud face of the young Jewish paratrooper.
