Komorebi

“KOMOREBI” is a Japanese untranslatable word that refers to the sunlight that filters through the leaves.

I focused on how the sunlight transforms the forest environment. Dark versus bright, the complex heavy structure of the bark reveals the light, delicate shapes of the leaves. Although I am very affectionate to the traditional English Paper Piecing technique, the hexagonal shape evolves into a contemporary, personal technique, which allows me to express the contrast between tridimensional structure and void.
