Hunger is the one dish that has been consistently experienced in every nation and every culture since the beginning of time. The causes are many, including wars, economic collapses, natural disasters, and crop failures. But the results are the same biting hollowness as the body slowly atrophies. In even the wealthiest of societies, there are always some without adequate food. The USDA reports that in 2020 in the U.S. alone, over 38 million people suffered from mild to severe food insecurity.
And the UN found that, while more than enough food is produced to feed the global population, as many as 811 million people still go hungry.
